Originally from Latvia, Lucija Bergere (loo-tzie-yah behr-geh-reh) is an illustrator and writer living in Portland, Oregon. 

They moved to the United States in 2014 and studied graphic design and psychology in a tiny town in Iowa. After finishing their degree they relocated to Portland, Oregon and worked as a mental health case manager and later studied illustration at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. 

Their biggest inspirations are moss-covered fir trees, decorative architecture, especially if there are statues and trimmings involved, but mostly people doing everyday things like walking their dog, playing music, cooking food, or feeding pigeons in a park. 

They are currently working on their first picture book, drawing up illustrations, and sketching everything around them.
